Just finished it a few minutes ago and it is already in the hands of my boy. I am glad to be done as it was becoming tedious. I am short about 40 boxes/squares and skipped doing the edging.
My boy is super happy to have it now and keeps running in saying “Thank you mommy!”.
Good news I found more if the color I needed, thank god I was shopping with my mom as she found the right shade of blue. I of course forgot the wool at home but she matched it perfectly! So I have been working away as much as I can, I managed to pinch a nerve in my hip last week, sitting has been a challenge but thankfully today it seems fine amd with any luck I can sit down and get this blanket knocked out.
Well I would have had it done but of course I ran out of yarn. I thought I had enough when I bought the wool, all well I have a great excuse to go yarn shopping now. Fingers crossed I can find the color I was using.
I’m back to crocheting this week and have made progess on my baby boys blanket.
I have 60 boxes (Squares), it is as big as he wants it. I have started decreasing now and it should go faster ( as long as I don’t slack off for a week again). My boy is impatiently waiting and would rather I just cut the yarn and call it done now.
First row of decreasing.
If I keep at it the silly boy should have his hands on this by the weekend.
Since my three boys have started back at school I have been enjoying quiet afternoons. I have been neglecting my hooks and yarn and going for nice walks since it is still warm enough to enjoy being outside. My walks have averaged about 5k everyday, nice way to kill an hour and get away from home at the same time. Today I am going to get my hook back into my hand and get some progress on all the wips I have sitting calling my name.
We had a fun weekend of shopping and more shopping. It started off with bookshelf hunting and ended with yarn, not a bad way to end the day. Michaels had Caron simply soft of for 3 bucks a ball so of course I had to grab some even though it was not the yarn I was going in there to buy. I grabbed three balls of Red Heart Boutique Midnight yarn in the colour Moonlight, love the yarn but not the price (ouch!!!). The way more then I would normally pay for yarn was used for a scarf called Shades of Grey. http://www.redheart.com/free-patterns/shades-grey-scarf I also fancied up a couple of my hair elastics with the bit I had left over, I was struggling with using it in the scrap Corner to Corner afghan although a tiny bit did make it in.
I have fingerless gloves in the works in blue and sparkly black to kind of go with the scarf. I’m not to sure how they will work together but it is work a shot anyways. http://www.redheart.com/free-patterns/give-%E2%80%98em-spirit-crochet-wristers
The Caron simply soft for now has been put away in one of many totes to await use, I got it in two shades of pink which look really pretty together. Once I get one of the other afghans done ( yeah right lol) I will have to find the right pattern to use it with.
First day of school for my big boys, the house is so quiet!!! Tomorrow my baby starts Kindergarten! That means two full hours of uninterrupted yarn time, unless one of them gets into trouble. Tomorrow might just be a relaxing and enjoying the silence rather then actually doing anything lol.
I found a really cool looking blanket pattern in Crochet! magazine it is called Matrix Throw. I love how it looka but man I want to scream and pull out my hair. The first part of the pattern is easy works out perfectly, get to the part where I need to start a shadow box doesn’t work at all. Made my mom look at it.. stumped her too!! This is the second project this year that has us both going wtf. We are both going to be playing around with it to make it work or I will just skip them and do double crochets where the boxes are supposed to be… For now I have put it aside and went back to the other blankets on the go.
The first bit of the square.
